Hello All!
I have started reading through some of your Voyager essays and I am pleased to say they look good for the most part. If you haven’t posted your essay, do so now! Once the semester ends, students without enough points will have to go to summer school! YUCK!!!!
I will be conducting individual folder checks and conferences with students until the 14th. It is to your advantage to meet with me personally to discuss what you are missing and how you can improve your chances of passing with the highest grade possible. Make sure you have everything you need in your folder. If you don’t know what you need, make sure you come to class for a conference.
On June 13th and 14th, students will have a chance to perform, present or conference for the very last time! After the 14th, Regents Testing begins.
Good Luck!
Mrs. Patrizio
Be aware that your essay on a musical selection from The Voyager List is due on Wednesday, June 1st. Please begin posting ASAP! I am typing this from the library, so, I know tumblr.com is working here now. Do not wait until the last minute! Make sure your URL is in the FRONT of your folder and in the classroom bin on June 1st as well. Remember, without your URL, I cannot find you and give you a grade!
All the Best,
Mrs. Patrizio
Yes, I am in the process of grading your progress on your blogs and will be submitting your grades to Mr. Simpson on Monday. Good luck to all! Remember that Mr. Hernandez and the entire public will have access to your blog. Make sure your content is appropriate! You know what I am talking about.

The Strokes were the only good thing on Saturday Night Live this past weekend! Here the band plays a song, Under the Cover of Darkness, from their newly released record. I just love how the lead guitars play these little instrumental duets in perfect distorted harmony. And it is always refreshing to see and hear a lead singer who is so good, he doesn’t have to pretend like he is playing a guitar at the same time. His vocals are raspy, loud and gritty like rock vocals should be. After hearing this song, I started to think about my next musical project that should definitely include me singing as loud and low as I possibly can.
This is the second song The Strokes played on SNL last weekend, Life is Simple in the Moonlight. A little more disjunct and less upbeat, this song appeals to a more melancholy me. Although the vocals are a little pitchy in the beginning, it just makes me like them more. This along with some really interesting and unexpected transitions attracts me to this song and makes me want to play it over and over again.
The next part of your PBL is due on March 11th, next Friday. This is basically your Playlist Presentation posted on your Tumblr account. Please refer to the “Blog Playlist Project” handout for directions and rubric details. Also, refer to your presentation notes and feedback from your fellow students and me to post the best blog possible.
Also, those of you who still need to hand in your folders with your URL handout completed, please do so ASAP. I cannot give you a grade unless I have your URL.
